Digital Cognitive Maps for Scientific Knowledge Construction in Initial Teacher Education

Interactive technology offers new opportunities to design dialogic learning spaces and scaffolds with the aid of visual icons. These technological environments can support construction open-ended cognitive digital maps, which portray an external representation scientific knowledge that could foster meaningful resolution socio-scientific challenges. In this context, research aims study impact maps on: a) concepts b) complex in teacher education. A case multi-method analysis was designed. The 47 education students are analysed, both quantitatively qualitatively, before-after their participation educational experience enhances collaborative order solve a challenge. results show overall and, specifically, inquiry embedded into environment have positive on skills. Furthermore, outcomes also indicate enriches students’ strategies network architecture increases after experience. Finally, implications use interactive for promoting significant content pre-service teachers discussed.
